Sound Off!

Sound Off!  The last Friday of every month at the Guelph Public Library main branch, 2nd floor (100 Norfolk St.).
Bring your instrument and perform on the open mic.  Join us for the writing workshop. Enjoy the featured poet. Bring your poetry and slam in the competition.  Become a regular and compete to be on the 2012 Guelph Youth Poetry Slam Team. (see Slam Rules.)  Sound Off! starts with a spoken word writing workshop from 5:30-6:30pm facilitated by Truth Is … and our featured artists.  The open mic (all ages), youth slam, and featured performance happen from 6:30-8:45pm.  This is event is sponsored by the Guelph Arts Council.

2012 Guelph Youth Poetry Slam Team
The Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (CFSW)  hosts a National Poetry Slam in Oct. each year.  In 2012 CFSW will happen in Saskatoon, hosting the second National Youth Poetry Slam in Canadian history!!!  The Guelph Youth Poetry Slam Team will travel to Saskatoon to compete in the National Youth Poetry Slam! To become a member of the team you must compete in the Finals Youth Slam on May 25 and score as one of the top four poets.  The fifth place poet will be the alternate.  To compete you must be between the ages of 12 and 22.

How to Qualifying for Finals
- Slam twice between August 2011 & May 2012
- Have an average score ranked in the top 6
- Be between the ages of 12 & 22
