Would you recognize greatness if it did a poem for you? If it gave you a chapbook called, “Beekeepers, Hurricanes & Men Who Catch Pigeons”? If it was a she and if her name was Alessandra Naccarato, a spoken word artist and community organizer based in Montreal? You might not, but one thing is for certain; After the March edition of the Guelph Poetry Slam.you can not answer such a question with anything but “YES!” ever again.
Alessandra Naccarato has graced stages from New York to Buenos Aires, Halifax to Victoria, and twice represented Montreal at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, placing third nationally in 2009 and 2010. On Saturday March 19th, she will add Guelph to her list and you will love her for it.
Instruction to enjoy such an experience, to Slam for a $100 prize and/or be an open mic expressionist are as follows:
Step 1 Call a friend(s) (Be sure friend(s) are between the ages of “Hey I’m alive” and “Hey! I’m still alive”.)
Step 2 Come to the Ebar (41 Quebec St.) on Saturday March 19th between 7 & 7:30PM
Step 3 Bring 10 – 5 dollars
Step 4 Find a place to sit/stand
Step 5 Listen & HAVE FUN!
TO SLAM
Step 1 Call a friend(s) (Be sure friend(s) are between the ages of “Hey I’m alive” and “Hey! I’m still alive”.)
Step 2 Come to the Ebar (41 Quebec St.) on Saturday March 19th at 7PM
Step 3 Bring 10 – 5 dollars and have 2 poems around 3 minutes each
Step 4 Sign up
Step 5 Get ready to rumble
Step 6 SLAM!
TO OPEN MIC
Step 1 Call a friend(s) (Be sure friend(s) are between the ages of “Hey I’m alive” and “Hey! I’m still alive”.)
Step 2 Come to the Ebar (41 Quebec St.) on Saturday March 19th at 7PM
Step 3 Bring 10 – 5 dollars and have no more than 5 minutes of a poetry/ music/ comedy routine
Step 4 Sign up
Step 5 Lull your butterflies
Step 6 JAM!
